1 – Introduction to Blog
As a company, we’d like to try something new! We’d like to begin keeping a little collection of written posts where we can keep our network a little more in-the-know on what’s happening at Pilzling.
After closing our farm this week, it made us realize that one of our favorite parts about being in WandelWerk was having the ability to show our farm to so many visitors (many of whom had no idea there was a mushroom farm in the basement!). It was always fun to see the look of amazement on their faces as they peeked through the window into the fruiting-room to see a shelf of fresh mushrooms growing before them. We are going to miss sharing that, but we’ll hopefully be able to offer that experience again soon.
Starting this blog has been on our to-do list for some time. With it, we’d like to tell some of our stories of success (and failure!), news-worthy events, and of course throw in a few nerdy mushroom facts along the way. As well, we have a lot of admiration for companies that share information and are transparent about their activities and sustainability, so we also plan to offer some insight on our core beliefs and how we operate.
On that note of transparency, it wouldn’t hurt to be honest right from the start: starting this blog feels like a bit of a daunting task. We aren’t bloggers, social media gurus, or hobby-writers. Sometimes we even have a hard time thinking about how to reply to our instagram messages. Therefore, we welcome any feedback whether that’s hints, tips or constructive criticism.
I (Trevor) have taken the lead on writing a few of these posts. I will write from my personal viewpoint, but I will try to represent the ideas of our team the best that I can. As much progress as I’ve made with my German, I still feel most comfortable expressing my thoughts in English, so the deutsche Fassung will be a translated text. In the future, expect some interesting posts from our other team members, and perhaps even some collaborators out of our community!
We have a lot that we’d like to share, so please come by for a read. We hope that this blog can be a bit like our fruiting-room window – a way our visitors can have a little peek to see how the Pilzlinge are doing!
